Who is Lem Lewis from The Glory Field?

Lem Lewis, born in 1847, was Moses and Saran's oldest son. After escaping Live Oaks with his uncle, Lem is captured and returned to the plantation. Joshua, thus returned to find him, and he once again escapes. Lem then joins the Union Army and is killed in action. He is buried in the Glory Field.
