what disturbing and startling memory did the Giver transmit to Jonas

I would assume that the most disturbing and startling memory given to Jonas was the memory of the men killing an elephant with guns. He also gives him the memory of the anguished mourning of the elephant that found its corpse. I cannot be sure of the accuracy of this answer without a chapter number.
