What is the theme in The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum?

One major and very important theme in the novel is the role of parents in their children's behavior. This theme is illustrated through the character of Ruth, who is supposed to model right and wrong..... unfortunately, she models all of the wrong behaviors.
