The Ghost Sonata is filled with symbolic imagery, like that often associated with dreams. The pendulum clock, the Mummy, the "vampires," the Old Man's wheelchair, and the house itself, where the characters have their "ghost supper," are all symbols representing abstract ideas like time, fear, guilt, shame, power and corruption.
