In Act I, Part I, the fast-paced, multiple conversations, the endless digging for stories, and the simultaneous cynicism and laziness of the reporters create the impression of highenergy impatience barely kept in check but ready to explode as soon as that one big story comes along. This foreshadows the end of the act when the big story does come along and everything that these reporters have been waiting for, this evening and possibly all their lives, actually happens.
