Who is Captain Charlie Moore from The Forever War and what is their importance?

Captain Charlie Moore is Mandella's executive officer while he is commander of a Strike Force. After Charlie hits on Mandella and he declines, the two of them become friends. Charlie survives the campaign and, along with Diana and Mandella, travels to a planet called Middle Finger after the war to find Marygay. Charlie and Diana, although both of them lived most of their lives as homosexuals, eventually end up getting married.
