In Book III, an element of foreshadowing takes place in the bar when Azaro has the thought that things will never be the same again. There was a specific instance when Madame Koto chose greed and power over what was right. Azaro correctly sensed the power struggle shifting to support the thugs. From that point on, Madame Koto's bar would be the place of "the enemy." The old, friendly neighborhood bar was gone.
