The book is written in the first person from the limited perspective of the author. It should be noted that the author is a historian and college professor, and seems to be recognized as an expert in the field of Jewish history especially as it pertains to the Holocaust. That said, the reader should keep in mind the author presents a great deal of information as fact that might actually be her opinion. She does not present anything as opinion and there seems little doubt that it's based on her research.
