In the Diary of a Young Girl (the story of Anne Frank) there were quite a few instances where they were sure that they'd been found out. One time there was a thief that broke into the store down below. At the time the people in the annex were moving around, had lights on, and were making noise. The thief was frightened off, but a police report was filed. The Van Daans (Van Pells) wanted to buy off the thief, and each blamed the other for making too much noise. Anne fainted. Margot and Mrs. Frank prayed. Peter was ready to fight, and Mr. Frank urged caution and patience.
