Frederick Engels, German philosopher and co-developer of Communist theory, is one of the authors of the Manifesto of the Communist Party. Engels offers no biographical data in the document, though it can be inferred that he was a devoted member of the Communist League. Engels' name is often rendered as Friedrich Engels.
