Although each story is structured differently, there seems to be an underlying thread of the ancient morality tale in which someone learns an important lesson about good and evil through their own personal suffering. This is not because someone older and wiser tells them so. Most of the stories follow a problem-crisis-turning point-resolution pattern, even those populated with and narrated by evil spirits. However, in many instances, the resolution is not complete or satisfying.
