What is the theme in The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier?

I think conformity and individuality are themes in the book. The novel was inspired by a poster with a T.S. Eliot quote: “Do I dare disturb the universe?” Jerry Renault choses to defy the Vigils and the school administration by continuing to sell chocolates.
