What is the setting of The Bottle Factory Outing by Beryl Bainbridge?

The story is set in London, in the middle of a cold winter. We see much of the interaction between Freda and Brenda in their tiny apartment. It is here that Brenda invites Patrick and here that Freda dreams that Vittorio will accompany her home.
