In Chapter Two, Lipsha misses Zelda provided opportunity for putting a plan for his life in motion because he is obsessed with Shawnee. His inability to embrace the communal voice introduced in the first chapter's narration foreshadows that his infatuation with Shawnee Ray will take him even further away from his ancestors and the discovery of his spiritual power.
