What is the theme in The Belle's Stratagem by Hannah Cowley?

One major theme in the novel is that of courtship and marriage. It must be understood however, that most marriages are arranged, and thus, the courtship is more or less a phase of getting to know one another. Note, the most important part of this theme can be found in Letitia's refusal to marry someone she doesn't love, and the way she flouts convention by doing so.
