In the Battle of the Labyrinth, Percy has a dream where he is witnessing Daedalus and his nephew. In this dream, Percy hears his nephew bragging that one day he would be as great as his Uncle and would take over from him. In a fit of jealousy, Daedalus constructs a game and makes sure that his nephew plays too close to the edge, where he falls from the the tower, killing him.
