King Edmund was given the choice of either paying off the Viking invaders or dying with his people. Edmund chooses his people, and the Vikings fill his body with arrows, as he calls on the name of Christ. After the Vikings behead Edmund, a wolf miraculously appears and watches over his head until his followers find it. King Edmund is later made a saint.
