Who is Mr. Fisher from Tangerine and what is their importance?

Mr. Fisher is Paul's father, he is a civil engineer and takes a job in Tangerine County which prompts the family's move to Florida. Paul's father is caught up in what Paul calls the Erik Fisher Football Dream. At one point, Paul asks his father for Erik's statistics over the previous football season and his father is able to comply immediately, but has no idea how Paul's soccer season has gone. It's evident that his father is more interested in Erik than in Paul.
