Who is Julius Caesar from Strategy and what is their importance?

Julius Caesar was a fantastic general who's popularity was so great that the people of Rome and especially of the conquered Roman lands actually preferred to have him as their head, even though this meant that they had committed what feels to most Americans like a "faux pas" by "reverting from a form of democracy in order to have an Emperor. There are direct accounts of some of his strategy early on in the book's first section.
