Jeff Hawkins, Stotan!, is the largest swimmer on the team. He's impulsive and tends to live life on the edge. Some of his exploits include being shipwrecked and nearly drowning. He has been in the Marine reserves. During the swim season, Jeff becomes ill with a blood disease. He can no longer swim and though the team wants to cancel the season because of it, Jeff urges them to continue on. They do to honor him. Later, we find out that Jeff's condition has worsened and that they've taken him to the hospital.
