Mr. Wheeler, Stotan!, is Nortie's father. He is very abusive to both Nortie and Nortie's mother. When Nortie starts dating a black girl, his father finds out and beats Nortie badly. The swim team find out about it and arrive to move Nortie and his mother from the home. Wheeler pulls a gun on them, but they convince him to let them get Nortie's things and to take Nortie and his mother away.
