The story was presented in first person from Malika Oufkir's perspective. This was an extremely limited point of view but was augmented by the fact that Malika presented her information years after the events. This gave her the advantage of a better perspective and of more information than she might have had at the time of the events begin presented. For example, she talked about a party that she dreaded and said that she behaved very badly, throwing a tantrum and angrily washing out the elaborate hairdo she had been provided.
