MacDougall is a young scientist from America who is in London in the hopes of capturing a vampire to take back to America and study. Of course, it would be a dead vampire. MacDougall meets Alexia and is attracted to her and her ability to be of help to him. He recognizes her intelligence. He doesn't know about preternaturals until he sees her at the Hypocras Club. He is in the torture room with them as the climax comes. His weak personality stands out during the battle.
