In Chapter Thirteen, Sudi's conversation with the mummy is significant because although she has just met him, she feels comfortable and tells him things she has never shared with anyone. This foreshadows events to come, when it is revealed that the two have had a prior relationship and that the love spell, while it might or might not have actually been effective, was not necessary because this boy was devoted to her anyway.
