What metaphors are used in Silence by Shusaku Endo?

In Chapter Seven, Rodrigues discusses Christianity with Inoue, describing his faith using a series of metaphors about a man with many wives. The interpreter for the two men seems to enjoy their conversation until Inoue admits that he has never considered Christianity to be an evil religion.
