Siddhartha’s attitude towards these people was friendly but also condescending. Siddhartha felt that he was more evolved than them. Siddhartha is in danger of losing himself to the primal desires and attachments of the world. He is feeling and feeding off emotions that only lead to suffering. I think the Buddha noticed this in him in earlier chapters.
