Was Siddhartha a good parent figure to the boy?

Siddhartha does not have great parenting skills. His angry son tested Siddhartha for boundaries and direction but Siddhartha gave him none. Siddhartha tried to win the boys affection through patience and love. The boy needed much more than that.
