Who attacks Papa, Stacey and Mr. Morrison when they're returning from Vicksburg?

The Wallaces are responsible for the attack on the trip back from Vicksburg. They shoot and Mr. Morrison and Papa. Papa's head is grazed by a bullet, and the frightened horses rear up. As a result, Papa's leg is broken by the moving wagon.
