Robinson Crusoe's life experiences contributed to his survival in many circumstances because he managed to keep his wits about him. In other words, he continued to use mankind's greatest talent..the ability to reason and to problem solve. He used this when he wa a slave to the pirate, and he uses it again, later, on the island.
