The main conflict in the novel, Regeneration, revolves around Dr. Rivers treatment of the soldiers who suffer from what we now call, PTSD. Although Dr. Rivers believes that Craiglockhart deals with the suffering of the young men, he also comes to question the futility of "curing" them only to send them back to the front.
