There are many themes that exist in the novel, Pride and Prejudice, but the two main themes are, literally, pride, and prejudice. The theme of pride shows itself, at one point, when Elizabeth initially meets Darcy and determines that he is stuck up and cold. Elizabeth also introduces the theme of prejudice in the cold and calculating way that she appraises everyone she meets. She believes that the world can be divided into two types of people: simple, and intricate. The complex people are, of course, more intersting to her.
