Who is Gary Mardar from Prey and what is their importance?

Gary Mardar is Jack's attorney. Over the course of the novel, he tells Jack to seek out a marriage counselor in order to offset Julia's claim that he's turning their children against her. He believes that a marriage counselor will substantiate Jack's determination to save his marriage.
