Who is Grandpa Wally from Post Office and what is their importance?

Grandpa Wally is Joyce's grandfather, and more than any of Henry's in-laws, accepts him. Joyce and Henry visit Wally to drink whisky and listen to country music. He later sends Joyce money for a house, a car, and clothing to help Henry find a job.
