Who is the antagonist in Paul's Case by Willa Cather?

I would choose Paul's dad as his antagonist. He is like the hairy wolf that lurks in the forest only he lurks in Paul's house and doesn't know how to parent. It's difficult to say if he is the only reason Paul is so messed up but he is certainly part of the problem.
