Who is Herzeloyde from Parzival and what is their importance?

Herzeloyde, Queen of Waleis, marries Gahmuret after a tournament he participated in while in Kanvoleis. She is quickly widowed, but soon after gives birth to their son, Parzival. Parzival is raised in the woods, and his mother successfully keeps him ignorant on the subject of knights and knighthood. When Parzival discovers the world of knights he leaves his mother, who dies of heartbreak.
