Who is Ed Somers from One Child and what is their importance?

Ed Somers is the Director of Special Education for the school district in which Torey works. Unlike some of Torey's colleagues, Ed does not openly disapprove of Torey's relaxed teaching style. Ed also believes in Torey's ability to reach the more severely disabled children.
