The tone of this book shifts throughout the prose, but tends to be subjective on the large part. The beginning of the book is a short biography of sorts, a curriculum vitae. The tone of this section is clearly subjective as Stephen King shares some of the most personal moments of his life that he believes helped shape him as a writer. Due to the subject matter, it is impossible for the tone not to be personal.
