Who is Rosalia Sanchez from Odd Thomas and what is their importance?

Rosalia is Odd's landlady. Her husband died of a heart attack just prior to 9/11. Her sisters and their families were traveling on one of the planes that were crashed into the World Trade Center. Mrs. Sanchez was also supposed to be traveling on the plane.
