Imagery of Richard's umbrella bears a map of the London Underground. The old woman, the very one he gives the umbrella to, prognosticates that Richard should be aware of "doors." Even the "Angels Over London" exhibit, where the Angelus is located, is established early in the story, almost as an aside. Dream imagery punctuate the story throughout.
