Prejudice is a recurring idea that is revealed through minor details throughout the storyline. In some ways, some of the people in Saitter are prejudiced against Tiger's parents because of Corrina and Lonnie's mental handicap. The church congregation laughs at Corrina when Corrina responds loudly to a sermon.
