Julia Child was a famous cook, author, and television personality. She was born in Pasadena on August 15, 1912. She had a younger brother and sister. Julia attended Smith College. When World War II broke out, she wanted to help in the war effort. She joined the OSS and was stationed in Ceylon and China. It was during her time in the OSS that Julia met her husband, Paul. They married on their return to the States and lived in Washington DC for several years.
