What does Gerald do after Madame Cyclops lays her eggs?

Gerald tracks a Madame Cyclops, who he names for her missing eye, and watches her as she digs a hole and lays nine eggs. Madame Cyclops then covers the eggs with soil and stamps down the earth. When she leaves her eggs, Gerald confiscates one for his collection.
