What is the setting of Mules and Men by Zora Neale Hurston?

The story is set in the deep south in the 1960s. There are several distinct settings, all of them real. Hurston's trip begins in Florida, where she encounters friends from her childhood and visits in the home of another friend. She soon travels to a lumber camp. This is an entire town that is based on the lumber camp.
