Who is The Girl from Memories of My Melancholy Whores and what is their importance?

The girl is a fourteen-year-old virgin. She is hired by Rosa Cabarcas to give her virginity to the narrator. The young girl is from a poor family, and she is responsible for caring for several younger siblings. She is also employed in a clothing factory where she sews buttons on shirts. When the girl comes to the brothel to meet with the narrator, she is so nervous that Rosa gives her a home remedy to help her relax. The remedy, however, puts her to sleep, and she sleeps through the entire night. The narrator decides not to wake her in order to conduct his business, and he enjoys their night together so much that he decides to repeat it many times over the course of a year. Every night they spend together, the girl is sleeping, but the narrator does not mind. They never even talk, but the narrator falls in love with her anyway and even buys her a bicycle for Christmas.
