Marigolds

Over the course of the story, Lizabeth transforms from an impetuous, thoughtless girl, who makes fun of her neighbor and destroys the things (marigolds) that she loves most..... to a young woman who reflects on her past misdeeds with remorse. In essence, she grows up.
