Who is Robert McNamara from Lyndon Johnson and the American Dream and what is their importance?

Robert McNamara served as the Secretary of Defense under Johnson, and he was a staunch early supporter of Johnson's Vietnam policy. As the war continued, McNamara advised Johnson that it should be "capped". Johnson, however, didn;t want to hear this and restricted McNamara's access to the White House. McNamara eventually resigned.
