Foreign cultures is a theme. A great number of Morrison's poems deal with foreign cultures in one way or another, from the culture of the racist to that of East Asia, the cave dweller and the Aztecs. As an observer of human nature, Morrison was fascinated by the way people interacted with one another in daily life and how they behaved when confronted with strangers who may or may not pose a threat. In Morrison's eyes, there was nothing more dangerous to the tribes as an approaching stranger as the entire world of the tribe could be put into jeopardy if the stranger meant harm.
