King Lear is more complex than Lord of the Flies. It takes time to assess which character is the "bully" and which character is the victim. One also needs to consider the nature of bullying and exactly what a bully is. King Lear certainly bullies his only honest and caring daughter Cordelia as she will not flatter him like her sisters. Lord of the flies has a more classic bully through the character of Jack. Jack shows the classic characteristics of a playground bully and manipulator. He thrives on validation from others as well as going after the weakest boys on the island.
