Where did the Kikapu come from?
In Chapter Six, we learn that John's cook, an old Indian woman, was captured by his grandfather. She was never accepted by his grandfather's family but was enormously helpful after his grandfather fell ill. The old woman shared her knowledge with John and in large part inspired him to become a doctor.
