Pi briefly imagines the point just before one meets death and how it must be for an atheist or an agnostic. He muses about how each one interprets the white light at the end of life. In chapter 23 Pi imagines his faith is challenged by all those in his life that mean anything to him. He muses about standing up for his beliefs.
